April is a diverse actor in the Philadelphia market. Her dream is to be cast in Tyler Perry’s Sisters and to act in a feature film that premieres on the big screen, nationally. She sat down with us for this interview.
How did you get started with acting?
I got started acting from turning down the opportunity to be in the movie ‘Clockers’ that was filmed in Brooklyn New York @ the Guwanas Projects where my grandfather was residing at the time. I was there visiting him and one of the casting directors approached me as I was walking to the bodega. I gracefully turned it down because all I wanted to do was model back then. The casting director gave me his card & told me if I changed my mind to call him. When ‘Clockers’ came out, I was like ‘whaaaaaaatttttt!’ After that I decided never to put myself in a box – if another opportunity ever presented itself I wouldn’t turn it down. Fast forward a few years and I’m doing some paperwork for actor extraordinaire Nakia Dillard (big time, humble
& well respected actor) and he let me know about his acting school. I decided to enroll and it’s been wonderful ever since.
Who would you really like to work with on a film or TV role?
I would like to work with Tray Chanay, Mary J. Blige, Christian Keyes, Wood Harris, Viola Davis and the list goes on.
What projects do you have coming up?
Do you have anything releasing soon? Fortunately, I have a few projects coming up including: ‘I Can Read So I Can Lead’ written by Kidprenuer Asil Greer, ‘Call The Cops’ by Man They Call Lux, ‘Philly Narcotics’ a web series by Gil Stringfield, ‘KeKe’ a YouTube series by Winborne & Drench Productions, ‘Illegal Lawyer’ by CJ the Director. Also I’m in a few films releasing soon named ‘Queen’s Day,’ ‘Hosts,’ ‘Fuxk D3M Kids,’ ‘Shattered Reflections’ and ‘Unexposed.’
What is something about you that you want your fans to know that they may be surprised about? Perhaps a hobby?
Or a special talent? I am a community activist against DHS/CPS family court corruption. I am also married to the hiphop legend Warren ‘Steady B’ McGlone.
