superherointhemirrorPublished author, Marlowe Smith weighs in and expounds on his new book “The Superhero In The Mirror” How Mentors Can Help Solve Our Toughest Problems”

Why do you feel you needed to write this book?

I wrote this book to inspire those with good character to get involved to help young people identify their gifts, talents and guide them on a successful path.

Why are mentors so important vs fathers or teachers?

I do believe that fathers are extremely important to children’s lives. Unfortunately many children are growing up without both parents under one roof.

Student truancy is up for students of all races and income levels. The teacher to student ratio is overwhelming and makes individual attention difficult.

What experience did you enjoy the most as a mentor?

Having mentored for over a couple of decades, it makes me feel great when my mentees ask me about the big choices they need to make years later like colleges, choosing a major, relationships or purchasing a home etc.

What qualifies someone to be a mentor?

Well, it’s not a degree or professional designation. The best mentors are are good listeners and those willing to invest in the next generation by passing on lessons to help others avoid life’s pitfalls.

What do you want your legacy to be?

I would like to be remembered as a person who lived by the Golden Rule to treat others as you want to be treated. As I instruct all my mentees, I simply aimed to pay it forward – to pass on the knowledge that I have learned over the years.
